He doesn't quite know how it happened, but Ciarán Hinds has cornered the market for playing arro-gant men in period costume. From the wonderfully uptight Captain Wentworth in the BBC's Persuasion, to Ivanhoe's dastardly Sir Brian de Bois Guilbert, and Mr Rochester in ITV's Jane Eyre, if there's a lip to be curled, a sneer to be sneered, and a pair of breeches or suit of armour to be strutted about in, he's the man for the job. Question is how will he do as Harry Potter's Dumbledore?

Yes as his brother Aberforth Dumbledore, as I have just read "Deathly Hallows" when I read this I took a double-take and said "Well I suppose it is about time! almost every talented British actor and actress has been in Harry Potter"
I wish that Jane Austen could be expanded in such a way other than the spinoffs and spoofs like the Zombies and Lochness as well as Vampires. As I know it there are a few continuations some are listed here and have read some myself that could be used to complete Lady Susan and The Watsons/ Sanditon. Where or when these adaptations will materialise is anyone's guess. I myself could see all the Harry Potter cast in a Jane Austen spinoff could give it a boost to the younger crowd.
So far there has been, Imelda Staunton, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Julie Walters,Fiona Shaw, Gemma Jones,Michael Gambon,Pam Ferris in the Harry Potter series who have been in an adaptation or biopic for Jane Austen.
