Hello
again, it is hard to believe that the Bath Jane Austen Festival has
been and gone - doesn't time fly and what fun we had.
The latest news,
on the BBC mini series of 'Sense & Sensibility' adapted by
Andrew
Davies, is that it will be on our screens in the UK in 2008 but the
exact date is not yet known. I will keep you informed on this one.
All Hallows Eve is nearly upon us and guess what, apparently
there is a shortage of pumpkins in the UK because of the recent unusual
weather. This means those that can be found are small and expensive! I
am sure that Jane, Cassandra and their brothers did not go trick
or treating in Steventon but they may have indulged in apple bobbing,
although that activity would have been during the Christmas festivities
and not at Halloween.
Bye for now and see you next month.
We are pleased to present the next part of our serial There
must be Murder. Chapter 10 - The Shades of Udolpho.

Have a look at this year’s Festival promenade. It all took place on a lovely September day here in Georgian Bath.
The costumes look absolutely splendid.

Singer Lily Allen, Stephen Fry, Russell Brand and Carrie Fisher are set
to star in a spoof movie of ‘Pride and Prejudice’. Guess
who else is in it?

In
the year 1808 a book was published in London, which addressed itself
mainly to literate, well-to-do young mothers and housewives.
Especially interesting is the opportunity this book offers to directly
compare what was intended for the children of the poor, and what the
authoress held in stock for the children of the better-off families.

‘Kitty
and I ventured into town this morning on our Aunt Phillips'
intelligence of the latest news concerning the arrival of a whole
regiment of soldiers!’ No surprises there then.
