Hello again, there was a lot of excitement with the recent Jane Austen Regency World Awards dinner at the Hilton in Bath. A very glamorous affair - images to follow in the next newsletter.
There is more excitement in store when the Jane Austen Centre goes to the V&A in London on Friday 13th June - only for the evening you understand to help them out with a Jane Austen quiz.

	A great night out recognising the contributions of actors, directors, writers and more in furthering the understanding and enjoyment of Jane Austen's work.

In keeping with the ‘Awards’ theme, Becca has created a section on the Giftshop site for all the winners. Included are some signed copies of the nominated books, but hurry, we have a limited number!

Fashion in the Month of May
	Regency Fashions were forever changing and a glimpse at a few of the Ladies' Magazines of the time shows just how difficult it would be to remain fashionable from one year to the next. A lovely article by author Michele Ann Young.

The mother of the Gothic Novel
	A biography of Ann Radcliffe who was to marry the owner of the Bath Chronicle and go on to develop the gothic genre and inspire Jane Austen.

I’m off to London to set the quiz at this lovely Regency evening which the V&A describes as, ‘An evening of Regency period dance and music, live duelling, and parlour games.’
Dan Cruickshank will be lecturing on the delights and dangers of Regency London.

	Short video of the celebrated screenwriter talking about the devices he uses to portray the heroes and heroines from his Jane Austen adaptations. Watch out for Colin Firth’s dive into the lake! .
