Hello again, I can't believe it – no sooner had I sent the last newsletter saying that we'd had no
snow - when down it came - in bucketloads!!! Good timing actually as we closed the Centre for 2 days to upgrade our exhibition. More about that in a future newsletter.

 Is this the final Austen remake for the BBC?

This is going to be very good. It’s a four part dramatization which will allow the writers to fully develop the characters and plotlines.
Series controller for the BBC Kate Harwood says, "In Emma, Austen has created an intriguing heroine, and our four-hour canvas allows us to explore this multi-faceted character in detail.

I came across this short film on Youtube and really enjoyed it. The music is "Polskie drogi" from a wonderful polish composer Andrzej Kurylewicz.
Originally it was a song for a polish series about the second world war!

Darcy Portrait The portrait of Mr Darcy that hung at  Pemberley from the BBC version of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ sold at auction recently.
The Jane Austen Centre was outbid – we wanted it for our Regency Tea Room.
