Jane Austen Centre Visit
Your Centre visite begins with a warm welcome and introductory talk from one of our knowledgeable and experienced guides. The introduction takes place on the first floor of this attractive Georgian town house, in a classically decorated period room. Following the talk your group is shown to our exhibition where their visit continues, unguided, at their own pace, finishing in our well-stocked gift shop. If you have any questions on Jane Austen or Bath our guides are always close at hand and very happy to answer them.
Walking Tours of Jane Austen’s Bath
There is nothing that our specialist walking tour guides like better than to show off our beautiful Georgian city to interested visitors. Let us take you to places mentioned in Jane Austen’s letters and her novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. Perhaps a more general history of Bath is required; whatever your group’s wishes we have the tour for you. With our private walks you can specify the focus, time and duration of the tour to suit your group and schedule.
The Regency Tea Rooms
If your visit is more leisurely you may like to enjoy some refreshments in our lovely Regency Tea Rooms on the second floor. Serving real leaf tea, home made cakes and light snacks, the Tea Room Manager and friendly staff will be delighted to welcome you.
Special ‘Out of Hours’ visits
For groups of 45 or more, for your comfort, we recommend out of normal hours visiting, either before 9.45am in summer (11am in winter) or after 4.30pm. By arrangement, in the evening we can accommodate groups who have the added bonus of exclusive use of the Centre.
School and Further Education Group visits
We can cater for most ages and abilities of students. Where possible, we will tailor our introductory talks to suit your group’s educational needs. Quizzes and other supporting materials are available to download here. For a really excellent taste of Jane Austen’s Bath, why not include a walking tour with your visit to the Centre? A Northanger Abbey or Persuasion walk is the perfect way to bring the novels to life.
