Centre Guide

The Jane Austen Centre in Bath is currently fully staffed. However, if you would like to be considered for future roles, please feel free to send us your CV.

About the role:

Set in an 18th Century Georgian town house the Jane Austen Centre is one of Bath’s busiest visitor attractions. All our staff wear Regency-period costume and our Guides tell the story of Jane Austen’s life, work, and her time in Bath. Guides take groups of visitors through the Exhibition after delivering an opening presentation talk, and are always on hand to add to the experience. The Regency Tea Room on the 2nd floor is a delightful haven of tasty, locally-sourced food and drink. Our unique Giftshop holds some unusual and bespoke items, along with a large selection of Austen-related books. Excellent customer service is a must for our all staff, along with an unmatched eye for attention to detail and a genuine willingness to make all our visitors feel welcome.

About you:

Our staff are integral to the visitor experience and so excellent people skills and customer-focused service are a must. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about ensuring visitors to the city of Bath and the Jane Austen Centre have the best possible time, making the experience both fun and informative. Being comfortable giving clear and consistent talks to groups of up to 30 tourists is essential and having a willingness to adapt the role of a character when ‘on stage’ is preferred.

If you would like to apply to work with us then please send your CV along with covering letter explaining why you are the perfect fit for the Jane Austen Centre to contactus@janeausten.co.uk
